Does Worship Music Shape Our Theology? A Hard Look

Not because it wasn’t important but because it forced me to confront something I never wanted to question: the music I had trusted to shape my faith.
For years, I sang along without thinking much about the lyrics, assuming that if a song sounded “godly,” it must be grounded in truth. But eventually, I had to ask myself a hard question: What gospel is actually being preached through the music we worship to?
Every song preaches something. And when it comes to Christian music, that matters more than we often realize.
