Loving God More Than Comfort
Our comfort and security often shape our decisions more than we realize. In this episode of Honest Christian Conversations, I sit down with George Sisneros, whose story challenges us to examine what it truly means to love God above all else.
George shares how a quiet moment in his basement in Colorado became a life-altering encounter when God asked him a piercing question: “Do you love Me?”—followed by “Do you love Me more than your wife?” and “Do you love Me more than your children?” That moment revealed how easily good and meaningful things can take God’s place at the center of our lives. What followed was a radical journey of obedience that led George and his wife to uproot their family and move to Guatemala in response to God’s call.
This conversation explores the cost of obedience, especially when it’s misunderstood by those closest to us. George opens up about the resistance he faced from friends, family, and fellow Christians—revealing how rarely our faith is tested by true sacrifice. Once in Guatemala, he encountered not only material poverty but also deep spiritual legalism, which reshaped his ministry toward teaching the gospel of grace rather than works. Through his academy for boys, George now disciples young men through Scripture, helping them build a foundation of faith rooted in surrender, obedience, and grace.
🎧 Listen to the episode to reflect on what it means to follow God when obedience requires discomfort, sacrifice, and trust beyond what feels safe.
