Speaking for Life With Conviction and Compassion
The abortion conversation is one of the most difficult—and most divisive—topics in our culture today. For a long time, it was a topic I avoided completely. Not because it didn’t matter, but because it felt too volatile, too painful, and too likely to divide. Yet silence doesn’t heal hearts or save lives. In this episode of Honest Christian Conversations, I step out of my comfort zone and sit down with Stuart Kellogg, founder of Students in Action, to talk honestly about why the church’s silence must end—and how we can engage this issue with both truth and love.
Stuart’s approach is not built on fear or confrontation, but on education and formation. Through a free, accessible curriculum designed to help students develop a biblical worldview of life, young people are invited to think deeply, ask questions, and engage thoughtfully. Rather than graphic imagery or political rhetoric, the program focuses on understanding—grounding students in Scripture, history, logic, and practical compassion. When truth is made accessible, fear loses its grip, and people are more willing to step into the conversation.
This episode also addresses hard realities—how abortion has become normalized in culture, how women are often not told the full truth about the physical and emotional risks involved, and why many churches avoid the topic altogether. We talk candidly about the fear pastors face, the pain many carry silently in the pews, and the urgent need to prepare the next generation with clarity and compassion rather than by avoiding it. Avoidance isn’t kindness—truth spoken in love is.
At its core, this conversation reframes abortion not as a political issue, but as a people issue. It’s about valuing life at every stage—the unborn child, the mother in crisis, and every person made in the image of God. As Stuart emphasizes, when Christians lead with compassion, truth sounds like mercy, and mercy opens the door to transformation.
