Tribute to Masculinity (Week 1): When Parental Divorce Shapes the Man You Become

Parental divorce leaves impressions that often follow children well into adulthood—shaping relationships, identity, and emotional health in ways many don’t immediately recognize. In this first episode of my Tribute to Masculinity series, I’m joined by Kent Darcie, founder of Hope for Adult Children of Divorce, to explore the often-overlooked impact of growing up in a divorced home.

Kent shares his personal story of experiencing his parents’ divorce at age thirteen—and how God later revealed that unresolved wounds were quietly shaping his marriage and emotional life. What began as a personal awakening led to years of research and eventually a ministry dedicated to helping adult children of divorce identify anger, fear, trust issues, and distorted views of God that often stem from childhood loss.

In this conversation, we unpack how parental divorce affects men and women differently, including struggles with masculinity, “father hunger,” fear of repeating generational patterns, and the growing reality of gray divorce—when parents separate later in life. Kent offers biblical clarity, practical insight, and hope for healing, reminding listeners that awareness and truth are the first steps toward breaking cycles and building something more substantial.

🎧 Listen to the episode to understand how childhood divorce can quietly shape adulthood—and how healing, freedom, and restored identity are possible through Christ.
