00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:02.665
Hello everyone, welcome to another mini-sode.

00:00:02.665 --> 00:00:04.250
Thank you for tuning in.

00:00:04.250 --> 00:00:09.528
What did you think of the episode with David Libby talking about apologetics?

00:00:09.528 --> 00:00:15.569
Was that a subject that you love geeking out on, or is it something that you just feel like?

00:00:15.569 --> 00:00:19.221
Well, I don't want to go to school for this, so I don't really care.

00:00:19.600 --> 00:00:28.227
Well, regardless of what camp you might be in, there are videos on YouTube in exciting ways where you can learn about this stuff.

00:00:28.227 --> 00:00:31.568
You don't have to go to school to learn about this.

00:00:31.568 --> 00:00:39.154
I know maybe you grew up that way, being told that you need to go to seminary for this, and it's not true.

00:00:39.154 --> 00:00:41.655
You don't have to go to seminary anymore.

00:00:41.655 --> 00:00:44.737
That is the blessing that is the internet.

00:00:44.737 --> 00:00:57.212
I know a lot of people think that the internet is bad, that there's so many rabbit trails you can go down bad things that can happen, and that's all true, but you can also find some good resources on there.

00:00:57.212 --> 00:01:07.292
It's a great way to learn new things and apologetics can be that new thing that you learn, because it is important that we understand why we believe what we believe.

00:01:07.599 --> 00:01:14.649
We can't just say we believe it because we grew up being told it or just because we didn't bother to look into it deeply.

00:01:14.649 --> 00:01:18.111
We just blindly follow whatever we're told from pastors.

00:01:18.111 --> 00:01:21.489
What if it's not a pastor who is teaching from the Bible?

00:01:21.489 --> 00:01:23.486
You won't know unless you know.

00:01:23.486 --> 00:01:25.245
You have to get in the word.

00:01:25.245 --> 00:01:29.188
You have to understand what terms mean that they may be using.

00:01:29.188 --> 00:01:37.043
You got to figure out if they're bending themselves into a pretzel trying to get you to believe something that isn't in the Bible, but it might have slight truth.

00:01:37.043 --> 00:01:43.346
Let's not forget what happened to Adam and Eve in the garden with the serpent he twisted the word.

00:01:43.346 --> 00:01:44.549
He twisted things.

00:01:44.549 --> 00:01:51.411
That's what Satan does is he twists things, so he can use anyone or anything to twist something.

00:01:51.411 --> 00:01:57.048
And you have to be ready to defend the faith, not because the faith needs defending.

00:01:57.048 --> 00:02:00.882
I actually read this on a sub stack recently.

00:02:00.882 --> 00:02:02.927
It doesn't need to be defended.

00:02:02.927 --> 00:02:04.290
It's not some weak thing.

00:02:04.290 --> 00:02:05.915
It can defend itself.

00:02:05.915 --> 00:02:20.729
But we need to be aware of what we believe, because the Bible warns us that there are wolves in sheep's clothing and we need to make sure that we aren't sharing stuff that is not biblical and leading people astray unknowingly.

00:02:20.729 --> 00:02:25.647
So, yeah, there's going to be times where maybe people come at you with something.

00:02:25.647 --> 00:02:27.324
And what if you don't know?

00:02:27.324 --> 00:02:29.087
That is a scary feeling.

00:02:29.228 --> 00:02:37.663
I have been there and it's one of the reasons why I've been afraid to go up to people and talk to them about the faith is because I don't know a lot of things.

00:02:37.663 --> 00:02:40.028
But I am going on YouTube.

00:02:40.028 --> 00:02:43.844
I am listening to people like Alan Parr or Mike Winger.

00:02:43.844 --> 00:02:46.902
Justin Peters they teach the Bible.

00:02:46.902 --> 00:02:49.270
Kosti Hinn they teach the Bible.

00:02:49.270 --> 00:02:54.673
They know how to teach the Bible and teach apologetics in ways that we can understand.

00:02:55.060 --> 00:03:00.573
I mean, even John Cooper from Skillet will talk about apologetics on his podcast.

00:03:00.573 --> 00:03:03.368
If that's your thing, then go listen to that.

00:03:03.368 --> 00:03:07.302
He will sometimes go in depth on things and he will tell you things.

00:03:07.302 --> 00:03:08.783
He's written a book.

00:03:08.783 --> 00:03:13.347
David Libby has written two books that talk about apologetics.

00:03:13.347 --> 00:03:16.248
This one goes deep into apologetics.

00:03:16.248 --> 00:03:18.150
That also had some deep theological meaning in it as well.

00:03:18.150 --> 00:03:37.270
So there are various ways that we can learn why we believe what we believe, and there are simple ways and there's more in-depth ways.

00:03:37.270 --> 00:03:39.403
If you want to go to seminary, do it.

00:03:39.403 --> 00:03:41.588
If you can afford to do that, then do it.

00:03:41.588 --> 00:03:44.239
If you can't, then go on YouTube.

00:03:44.239 --> 00:03:46.518
Check out some of those people I just mentioned.

00:03:46.518 --> 00:03:59.860
Mike Winger is very good at that and I don't know if it's a weekly thing he does, but he does a live and he has people send in questions and he takes the first 10 questions he sees and he discusses them in a really long discussion.

00:03:59.860 --> 00:04:06.500
It's a great opportunity, even if you can't make the live, it still comes up later and you can listen to it later.

00:04:06.990 --> 00:04:16.519
There's really no excuse for you not to understand at some level what some of the terms we talked about, david and I talked about in this episode, what those mean.

00:04:16.519 --> 00:04:19.298
There's no reason you can't understand these things.

00:04:19.298 --> 00:04:21.557
You don't have to fully understand.

00:04:21.557 --> 00:04:26.156
I will be honest, I don't fully understand everything that I have read in David's book.

00:04:26.156 --> 00:04:28.079
Will be honest, I don't fully understand everything that I have read in David's book.

00:04:28.079 --> 00:04:39.752
I meant it when I said in the episode that I would have to read it more than once, because it is a deep, theological book.

00:04:39.752 --> 00:04:45.619
But it is worth the read, especially if this is something that matters to you, and this should matter to everybody, because we all need to know why we believe what we believe.

00:04:45.980 --> 00:04:50.476
So here's your question for this week what are you going to search up?

00:04:50.476 --> 00:04:51.800
Think of a word.

00:04:51.800 --> 00:04:56.978
Maybe it was something that was discussed in the episode, maybe it's something you've heard before.

00:04:56.978 --> 00:05:02.819
Maybe it's the idea of the end times, or it's something that you've been struggling with on your own.

00:05:02.819 --> 00:05:08.399
Find a good, godly, biblically-based resource that will help you with it.

00:05:08.399 --> 00:05:15.204
I guarantee whatever you are searching for, you can probably find it through Alan Parr on YouTube.

00:05:15.204 --> 00:05:21.670
He's got a channel called the Beat, and then Mike Winger, his channel on YouTube is also really good.

00:05:21.670 --> 00:05:28.144
I guarantee you'll probably find what you're looking for there, but make sure whoever you are looking for is biblically based.

00:05:28.144 --> 00:05:29.896
That is the key.

00:05:29.896 --> 00:05:32.798
So that's this week's mini-sode.

00:05:32.798 --> 00:05:35.738
I hope you have a wonderful day, god bless.
